THE INSIDER'S GUIDE TO SEC FRATERNITY RUSH

SEC fraternity rush is unlike anything else in college. Across all 16 schools - Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, and Texas - the process starts months before you ever set foot on campus. Summer rush events like cookouts, lake trips, and watch parties are where the real decisions happen, and most competitive houses have their class picked before formal rush week even begins.

FratRush is the only rush guide built entirely by active SEC fraternity members and recent graduates. Our Rush Playbook covers 330+ chapter profiles with honest culture breakdowns, school-by-school rush calendars with every registration deadline and event window, round-by-round wardrobe guides, conversation strategies that actually get you remembered, and the unwritten rules nobody tells freshmen. Whether you are a rushee figuring out which houses to target or a parent trying to understand how greek life recruitment works, FratRush gives you the insider playbook.

Wondering how much fraternity rush costs? Trying to figure out the 2026 SEC rush schedule? Not sure what parents need to know about fraternity recruitment? We cover all of it - for free on our blog, and in full depth inside the playbook. No fluff, no tier lists, no Reddit rumors. Just real intel from guys who have been on both sides of rush.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Real questions parents and rushees ask us. Real answers, no fluff.

What is fraternity rush?

Fraternity rush (also called recruitment) is the process where fraternities recruit new members. At SEC schools it typically involves a week of formal events plus weeks or months of summer cookouts, watch parties, and lake trips. Rushees meet brothers, learn each chapter's culture, and get evaluated for a bid.

How do you get a bid from a fraternity?

Bids come from genuine connections with current brothers. That means showing up to events, asking real questions, knowing what each chapter values, and dressing the part. At competitive SEC houses, 80 to 90 percent of bid decisions are made before rush week even starts. Preparation is the difference between a bid and a thanks-but-no-thanks.

What should I wear to fraternity rush?

Wardrobe varies by school and event. Summer cookouts call for clean casual: chinos or shorts, polos, broken-in boat shoes. Business casual rounds want a pressed Oxford and clean chinos. Coat-and-tie rounds need a navy blazer, white shirt, and school colors. The exact mix differs by campus - what plays at Auburn might look out of place at Vanderbilt.

When does fraternity rush start at SEC schools?

At most SEC schools, formal rush week happens during the first or second week of the fall semester (typically August). But the real rush starts much earlier. Summer events kick off as early as late May at Auburn, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Texas. Registration deadlines for IFC recruitment open around May 1 at most schools.

What is FratRush?

FratRush is the insider's guide to SEC fraternity rush, built by current fraternity members and recent graduates. It covers all 16 SEC schools with 330+ chapter profiles, the rush playbook, wardrobe guides by round, conversation strategies, and school-specific intel that nobody else publishes. Three tiers, one-time purchase, no subscription.
